The present invention provides a method for performing a low power mode in a portable ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus and the portable ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus for applying the same. The method for performing the low power mode in the portable ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus which includes a TX circuit, an RX circuit, and an external input terminal includes the steps of: applying operation power to the TX circuit; changing the RX circuit for receiving an ultrasonic echo signal into the low power mode; generating an ultrasonic wave by applying an electrical pulse to a piezoelectric device array module; receiving the standby time setting state of the RX circuit for receiving the ultrasonic echo signal; applying the operation power to the RX circuit, and generating the ultrasonic image and transmitting the ultrasonic image to a user screen.
