Provided are a medical image reconstruction method for providing a medical image having high spatial resolution and high time-based resolution, and low artifact, and a medical imaging apparatus thereof. The method for reconstructing a tomographic image comprises the steps of: obtaining a reference image imaging an object and a reconstruction target image imaging the object; determining at least one reference area corresponding to a unit area in the reconstruction target image in the reference image; and updating data in the unit area based on data included in at least one reference area.
