摘要 This friction brake device (10) includes: a brake rotor (12) that rotates around a rotation axis (18); brake pads (14A, 14B) that can rotate around a spin axis (40) parallel to the rotation axis; support members (38A, 38B) that support the brake pads; and pressing devices (60A, 60B) that press the brake pads against the brake rotor. In the friction brake device (10) when the brake pads are pressed against the brake rotor the brake pads are in friction engagement with the side surfaces of the brake rotor while revolving around the rotation axis relative to the brake rotor the support members press the brake pads in a direction perpendicular to the rotation axis such that the outer periphery of the brake pads is in friction engagement with the cylindrical surface of the brake rotor and the brake pads spin around the spin axis at the start of pressing but stop rotating when the pressing force increases.
