PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer sheet that can prevent kickback or scumming, without a special limitation in a coloring material included in a coloring material layer, and shows excellent stability of density in the formation of an image even when a back layer is made thin.SOLUTION: A thermal transfer sheet 100 includes a coloring material layer 2 on one surface of a substrate 1, and a back layer 5 disposed on the other surface of the substrate 1. The coloring material layer 2 comprises a predetermined solvent and a coloring material dispersible in the predetermined solvent.
