PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detection method for detecting a specific cell comprised in a sample from the sample comprising multiple cells.SOLUTION: The invention provides a detection method comprising (1) retaining cells contained in the sample on a microarray chip which comprises multiple microchambers, wherein each of the microchambers can contain multiple cells, and the water contact angle of the surface of the microarray chip comprising the inner surface of the microchamber is 10° or less; and (2) confirming the presence or absence of the specific cell in the cells retained on the microarray chip.
