PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for advantageously producing 2,5-furan dicarboxylic acid from 5-hydroxy methyl furfural with high productivity industrially.SOLUTION: Provided is a method for producing 2,5-furan dicarboxylic acid by oxidation reaction of 5-hydroxy methyl furfural in the presence of a noble metal-containing metal catalyst supported on activated carbon, water, and oxygen, in which it is characterized in that: the following steps (1) and (2) are carried out under a condition of pH of 7 or less and 0.1 MPa or more and less than 1.0 MPa; and the amount of oxygen supplied until finish of the step (2) is 120 mol% or more and 140 mol% or less with respect to 5-hydroxy methyl furfural charged. Step (1): a step of carrying out an oxidation reaction at temperature of 50°C or more and 110°C or less until the 5-hydroxy methyl furfural content in a reaction solution reaches a range of 0 mg/kg or more and 1,000 mg/kg or less. Step (2): after step (1), an oxidation reaction is carried out at temperature of 140°C or more and 250°C or less. |
