The embodiments of the present invention relate to a method for determining a path computation unit and a communication device. By way of carrying position information and transmission capability information about a PCE in a routing notification message and notifying a PCC of the information, the PCC can select a PCE which satisfies a transmission capability of the PCC for path computation according to the transmission capability information about the PCE in the routing notification message, thereby avoiding the problem that PCEP session establishment fails due to the mismatching of transmission capabilities between the PCC and the PCE. |
