PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel design of a fuel cell assembly and a novel activation procedure which enable the improvement of a fuel cell life.SOLUTION: A fuel cell device (10) comprises: a fuel cell assembly (5) having at least one polymer electrolytic film fuel cell; and hydrogen-supply means for supplying a hydrogen flow. The device further comprises means (4) for previous combustion which is adapted to burn a fuel put in the fuel cell assembly until a fuel flow increases to a predetermined level and/or an oxygen density decreases to a predetermined level. The means (4) for previous combustion includes, the at least one polymer electrolytic film fuel cell in the fuel cell assembly (5). The device further comprises an electronic circuit (9) which is adapted to short-circuit the fuel cell for previous combustion and also adapted to switch the operation of the fuel cell from an operation for previous combustion to an operation for power-supply combustion at arrival at the predetermined level. |
