<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that fine coating cannot be stably performed due to unevenness near a boundary line between a coating region and a non-coating region even when the coating is performed by abutting a top edge side of a guard plate on the boundary line, in a conventional one in which a brush section is made of sponge, an outer peripheral seal part of a foam is provided, and the guard plate is obliquely attached. <P>SOLUTION: In a coating brush including a rectangular flat brush substrate 1 having a grip 2 at substantially the central part on an upper surface and many bristle bundles 3 implanted in a lower surface, a top edge side 1a of one side of the brush substrate 1 has an arc-shape having a sectional beak shape that is sharp and curved downward. The method includes: a step of using the coating brush so that many bristle bundles 3 contain coating; and a step of performing the coating in a middle direction of a coating region by the abutment of a sharp top edge side 1a of one side of a brush substrate 1 along a boundary line of a coating region and a non-coating region of the coating object.
