PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically provide emergency lighting to be interlocked with an alarm detecting an abnormality such as a fire and producing an alarm, and to make a lighting device usable as a flash lamp.SOLUTION: An emergency lighting system includes: home alarms 100 each detecting an abnormality and producing an alarm; and lighting devices 10 each operating by a battery power supply and usable while being detached from an installation location. Each lighting device 10 puts out a lighting unit after turning on the lighting unit for predetermined time if detecting a lighting instruction from an operation unit while the lighting unit is puts out. The lighting device 10 turns on the lighting unit if detecting reception of an event signal indicating an abnormality, and then puts out the lighting unit if detecting reception of an event signal indicating recovery from the abnormality. The lighting device 10 outputs a battery-voltage-drop failure alarm by voice or indication and transmits an event signal indicating a battery voltage drop failure if determining that a battery voltage has dropped. The lighting device 10 outputs a battery-voltage-drop failure alarm identifying the lighting device 10 to which the battery voltage drop failure occurs by voice or indication if detecting reception of the event signal indicating the battery voltage drop failure.
