In a portable gas lamp, a burner is carried by a gas intake head mounted on a liquified gas bottle or on a support enclosing a liquified gas cartridge and an incandescent mantle is mounted at the top of the burner which also carries a supporting plate for a cylindrical lamp glass secured in position by resilient means fastened to the plate. In the form shown, the gas intake head 1 is adapted to be secured to a gas bottle 2 or a support for a perforatable gas cartridge and is fitted with a valve operated by a knob 3. The upper end carries a jet (not shown) enclosed in a burner tube 6 which is secured to the head 1 by a clip 7. The tube 6 has air inlets 6b and carries a tube 8 on which is mounted a mantle 12. A plate 9 having a raised central circular portion is secured to the tube 6. A lamp glass 11 engages over the central portion and is held in place by resilient fingers 10 secured to the plate. The plate has a cylindrical skirt 9b in which are diametrically opposite grooves 9c having holes to receive the lower ends of a stirrup 16. A cover consisting of a flat plate 14 surmounted by a conical hood 15 is carried by the stirrup 16, to which a carrying handle 17 is also secured.</p> |
