1,035,555. Carrier cartons. MEAD CORPORATION. Feb. 25, 1964 [Aug. 30, 19O3] No. 7867/64. Heading B8P. In a blank for forming a multicellular carton the ends of the handle panels are recessed at C, D to receive a portion 43 of a reversed adjacent blank. The blank comprises pairs of partition strips 16, 18, 30, 35 hingedly connected to extensions 14, 32 of the side walls and to the handle panels 12, 13, 21, 22. To erect the carton the blank is folded about lines 4, 40, Fig. 4 (not shown), to bring strips 16, 30 on to side wall extensions 14, 32 and handles 12, 21 on to handles 13, 22. Riser panels 9, 43 are then folded about lines 11, 45, base panel 46 folded about the line 47 and the handle flap 28 folded outwards on to panel 35, Fig. 6 (not shown). The blank is then folded about medial lines 23, 24 and tab 6 glued to the base; handle 12 is glued to the handle 21 and overlapping riser panels 8, 42 and 9, 43 are glued together. When the carton is erected the handle and riser panels form a centre longitudinal partition, while the partition strips extend transversely across the carton between the sides and the riser panels. The carton is held erect by notches 51, 52 in the riser panels engaging notches 49, 50 in the base.
|
