A tool for joining and separating a pin and socket connector comprises a pair of pivoted handles 21, 22, the handle 21 having a V-shaped head with a pair of carriages 28, 37 pivoted respectively at 29, 39, one to each arm 25, 26 of the head, and the handle 22 having a head 27 lying between the arms 25, 26, the tool having two separate means to engage the connector between a carriage and the head 27 of the handle 22, one means used to separate, and the other to join, the connector when the handles are closed. Each carriage comprises a flat plate with a slot 31 which allows a fixed pin 32 on the head 27 to slide therein as a lost-motion connection. A pair of projecting fingers 33, 34 on one end of the carriage oppose a pair of fingers 35 on the head 27 of the handle 22 and form means for engaging the pin-and-socket connector. A pair of stops 48 limit the opening movement of the handles and a pair of stops 50 limit the closing movement. The handles are normally urged apart by a spring 24. |
