Antibiotic marker-free transgenic rice with over-expressed high affinity phosphate transporter OsPT7 gene from Oryza sativa

The present invention relates to a plant transformation technology. More specifically, the present invention relates to transgenic rice which includes a high-affinity phosphate transporter gene derived from rice called OsPT7 and an antibiotic selectable marker and a preparation method thereof. According to the present invention, the transgenic rice does not include the antibiotic selectable marker to alleviate consumer concerns about the safety of GM crops and ensures superior commercial utilization compared to other types of transgenic rice. The OsPT7 used in the present invention is a phosphate transporter gene expressed in rice in the case of phosphate deficiency and is capable of boosting the absorption of the phosphate which is one of the critical nutrients for plants to enhance through overexpression the utilization of the phosphate in the soil.
