<p>An apparatus and a method for summarizing video are disclosed in the present invention. The apparatus for summarizing video according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises the following: an object extraction part which extracts objects by separating background from each of the original frames which forms a video of a given time; an object analysis part which analyzes the objects that have been extracted by the object extraction part based on the sequence of the original frames for identifying the time-phased characteristics of the objects; and a thumbnail image generation part which generates thumbnail images including symbols that indicate the objects for which the time-phased characteristics, which have been identified by the object analysis part, have been visualized.</p> |
