<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multiple-laser disk resonator that produces a high energy, near-diffraction limited laser beam.SOLUTION: A power amplifier 300 comprises a first plurality of laser disks 230a-c disposed in a first vertical plane 204 and a second plurality of laser disks 230d-f disposed in a second vertical plane 206 opposite the first vertical plane, where the plurality of laser disks are disposed in a central horizontal plane 210. The power amplifier also comprises a first plurality of reflecting mirrors 240e-h disposed in the first vertical plane and a second plurality of reflecting mirrors 240b-d disposed in the second vertical plane, where respective sets of laser disks and reflecting mirrors adjacent along an optical axis 202 are positioned to form 1:1 imaging systems.</p> |
