<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of compressing image data in a smaller size with high quality and a method of controlling the same. <P>SOLUTION: An image processor selectively generates a first median filter circuit, an edge extraction circuit, a second median filter circuit, a low-resolution conversion circuit, and a third median filter circuit. A controller analyzes a layout of a character image area in image data processed by the first median filter circuit, separates the image data processed by the low-resolution conversion circuit into character image data and background image data based on the analysis result, compresses each of the separated character image data and background image data, inputs the compressed background image data into the image processor, and makes a file based on the background image data processed by the third median filter circuit and the compressed character image data. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT</p> |
