The invention relates to a system (1) for producing purified water, characterised in that it comprises: a main stage comprising at least one main osmosis unit (2); and a secondary stage comprising at least one secondary osmosis unit (10); the inlet of the secondary osmosis unit (10) being connected to an outlet (12) for the concentrate produced from a reverse osmosis process in the main osmosis unit (2). The invention also relates to a method for implementing such a system and to a method for increasing the production of a prior art system.
