GROUPING OF DATA ATTACHED TO IMAGES

A grouping of data which is attached to images (I) is carried out by extracting portions (IT) from said images, said portions containing distinguishing characters for distinguishing between targets which are imaged. A coincidence of appearance for the distinguishing characters is sought between different image portions and, when the coincidence is positive, the data which is attached to the initial images is grouped. Such a method generates a grouping error rate that is very low, and can be used in applications for monitoring road traffic or biometric comparison.
