1. A kit for determining the severity of a burn, the kit comprising
(a) at least one antibody reagent suitable for detecting the level of at least one skin catabolism product in a biological fluid sample from a subject, wherein the skin catabolism product is carboxy terminal telopeptide of type I collagen (CTP-I) and the biological fluid sample is obtained from a subject affected with a burn within 24 hours from the time when the subject sustained the burn injury; and (b) instructional material directing the correlation of the detected level of the CTP-1 in the sample with a reference level that corresponds to a particular degree of burn severity. |
