PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing device, a congestion information acquisition method, and a program which enables a user to acquire properly updated congestion information with less data communication fee.SOLUTION: GPS reception means 18 acquires current position information of a vehicle on which a car navigation system 1 is mounted. A sensor 14 acquires travel direction information and travel speed of the vehicle on which the car navigation system 1 is mounted. Multi-hop communication means 161 acquires travel information (information including position information, travel direction information and travel speed information of another vehicle) from the other vehicle by multi-hop communication. Congestion information processing means 163 presents congestion information concerning a travel route of the vehicle to a user of the vehicle, on the basis of the position information, travel direction information and travel speed of the vehicle and the travel information of the other vehicle. |
