PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for forming a bend in a composite panel.SOLUTION: A method for forming a bend in a composite panel 300 comprises forming a slot 400 having a curved flange 408 in the composite panel, inserting a sheet 602 into the curved flange, and bending the composite panel 300 with the slot 400 and the sheet 602 within the curved flange 408 about a longitudinal axis 508 of the slot 400 to form the bend. The curved flange 408 has a bend allowance width larger than a bend slot width.
