PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a formulation and delivery method that can deliver octreotide over a period of time at a controlled rate to avoid the complications of a patient's having to suffer multiple periodic injections, in light of the efficacy of octreotide for controlling a growth hormone (GH) level when treating acromegaly, and in light of the lack of a controlled-release treatment method and formulation of octreotide.SOLUTION: Methods for delivering octreotide over an extended period of time comprises implanting a controlled release composition for delivering octreotide, comprising a polyurethane polymer or a methacrylate polymer, wherein: the composition does not require hydration prior to implantation; and the composition optionally comprises a release agent.
