PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve collection efficiency of oil having approximately 1 μm of small diameter included in blow-by gas in an oil separator.SOLUTION: An oil separator (10) includes: a housing (12) that forms a flow passage of blow-by gas and defines an annular shoulder surface (42) facing the downstream side; a valve element (36) that is disposed within the flow passage and can reciprocate so that an end surface thereof abuts on and separates from the annular shoulder surface; spring means (40) for energizing the valve element to close the valve element; and recirculation means (22) for recirculating oil separated from the blow-by gas in a crank chamber. An interval (B) between the end surface of the valve element and the annular shoulder surface at an opening position of the valve element is narrower than an interval (A) between a side surface (54) of the valve element and a wall surface of the flow passage all the time, regardless of a flow rate of the blow-by gas. |
