Embodiments relate to an apparatus, a method and a computer program for an optical receiver. The apparatus (10) for a receiver (100) comprises a receiver module (12), which is operable to receive an optical signal and to provide an electrical time domain signal based on the optical signal. The apparatus (10) further comprises a processing module (14), which is operable to non-linearly transform the electrical time domain signal into an electrical frequency domain signal. The processing module (14) is further operable to detect received data based on the electrical frequency domain signal and based on a set of two or more transmit symbols from a known symbol alphabet transmitted by the transmitter (200). |
