[Also in Divisions E2, F2 and F4] A screw and nut mechanism for opening and closing doors or windows consists of a reversible electric motor 1, having a hollow shaft 4 through which passes a first screw member 102 in engagement with a lead nut 3 secured to the shaft 4 and a second screw member 2 engaging a lead nut 103 on the member 102, the member 2 being attached to the door 19 through a pivot 12 and the motor being pivotally secured to a fixed structure, i.e. door or window frame, by a bracket 9. The mechanism may consist of just one associated screw and nut mechanism or the two screw threaded members may have different pitches.
