<p>A system and method for selecting music from one or more libraries of music. A request for a given track causes the library or libraries to be scanned for duplicate copies of the track. One of these is selected on the basis of a user-defined characteristic such as audio quality. In preferred forms, the system is a multi-user, multi-device system, and scanning is performed on both local libraries within the local network and on remote sources such as streaming and download sources.</p> |
