An oral appliance comprising:
an oral appliance body (16) including a first bite pad (12) and a second bite pad (14) interconnected by a retention band (20), the retention band (20) integrally formed with the body (16);
first (116) and second (216) tooth fitment portions, each forming at least a portion of a channel (18) to receive teeth of a user and the first and second tooth fitment portions (116,216) configured to position the bite pads (12,14) relative to an occlusal surface of teeth; and
one or more spacers (32,34) co-extensive with each bite pad (12,14) formed from a material having a sufficient hardness to resist substantial deformation when the teeth of a user are clenched while in contact with the one or more spacers (32,34);
wherein the one or more spacers (32,34) has a thicker front edge and is tapered to a thinner rear edge or has a thinner front edge and is tapered to a thicker rear edge.
