<p>A panel 10 suitable to replace the sliding door of the van. The panel including a door frame (16, Figure 2) and a laterally adjacent panel section (14, Figure 2) and a hinged door 25 mounted in the door frame (16). The door 25 can be of a conventional width and hence easier to operate, the remaining extent of the frame 25 affording additional space in the interior of the converted van. Preferably the adjacent panel (14) width occupies at least 30% of the width of the door 25 and the door 25 may be flat while the panel (14) may be outwardly convex. Optionally the door frame (16) protrudes outwardly of the panel at the top of the vehicle. A method is also disclosed involving the steps of removing a sliding door from the side 30 of a van 1 and replacing the sliding door with a door unit including a hinged door and wall panel. Preferably if the van 1 has a side rail this is also removed.</p> |
