A combustion apparatus comprises a rotary atomizing burner and a wick burner 12 located near the atomization zone of the rotary burner and supplied continuously with fuel by a pipe 11 branching from the fuel supply line to the rotary burner. The branch pipe 11 extends from an intermediate fuel vessel 6 and a pipe 10 conveys the fuel from the vessel 6 to a distributer bowl 3 in the rotary burner. The latter comprises atomizing tubes 4, 5. The rotary burner and a blower 9 are driven by an electric motor. The wick burner 12 comprises a fibrous wick 14 and a wick stone 13 partially surrounded by a flame holder 16 made of perforated metal or wire grid.
