An air conditioner (1) has an outdoor fan (36) and a refrigerant circuit (10) which connects a compressor (21), an outdoor heat exchanger (23), an expansion valve (24), and an indoor heat exchanger (41). The air conditioner (1) performs an expansion valve refrigerant discharge control and then performs an expansion valve normal switching control when a condition that refrigerant at inlet and outlet ports of the expansion valve (24) is in a one-phase liquid state is satisfied. The expansion valve refrigerant discharge control drives the compressor (21) in a state where the outdoor fan (36) is stopped and the expansion valve (24) is open. The expansion valve normal switching control reduces an opening of the expansion valve (24) and increases an operating frequency of the compressor (21). |
