PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation input device configured to prevent influence of disturbance to improve gesture detection accuracy, an operation input method and a program.SOLUTION: An operation input device includes: infrared irradiation means which emits an infrared ray; imaging means which detects and images the infrared ray to generate an image; luminance calculation means which calculates a luminance difference between a luminance of a first area in the image irradiated with the infrared ray by the infrared irradiation means and a luminance of a second area arranged outside the first area; infrared ray control means which adjusts irradiation intensity of the infrared ray emitted from the infrared irradiation means so that the luminance value is equal to a predetermined target value; image processing means which detects a shape of an instruction object from the image; determination means which determines the content of operation performed by the instruction object, from the shape; and command means which causes equipment to execute a function corresponding to the content of operation. |
