Disclosed are an apparatus and method for preparing various type of polybutene by varying the molar ratio of a catalyst used for a reaction, and capable of easily adjusting molecular weight. The apparatus for preparing polybutene capable of easily adjusting molecular weight comprises a complex catalyst preparing unit in which a complex catalyst consisting of an alcohol compound as a co-catalyst and boron trifluoride as a main catalyst is prepared; a complex catalyst feeding unit configured to adjusting a supply amount of a complex catalyst transferred from the complex catalyst preparing unit; a raw material feeding line configured to supply a reaction raw material; an auxiliary co-catalyst feeding line configured to mix a complex catalyst or a reaction raw material, with an ether compound which is an auxiliary co-catalyst; and a reactor configured to allow a mixture of an auxiliary co-catalyst and a complex catalyst to react with a reaction raw material supplied from the raw material feeding line, or to allow a mixture of an auxiliary co-catalyst and a reaction raw material to react with a complex catalyst supplied from the complex catalyst feeding unit, thereby polymerizing the substances to form polybutene. |
