Cycle tires with a tread (4) and a carcass (2) (especially a diagonal carcass) looped around two bead cores (1) are such that carcass (2) comprises at least a layer of textile reinforcement which is of a multifilament yarn of polyester-polyarylate filaments spun from a melted liquid crystal polymer. An independent claim is also included for such a tire also having a protective layer in the sidewall, this layer also being of a multifilament yarn of polyester-polyarylate filaments spun from a melted liquid crystal polymer.
