<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an approaching vehicle detection device and an approaching vehicle detection method which are capable of accurately detecting the approach of vehicles.SOLUTION: An approaching vehicle detection device 1 is included in each of a plurality of vehicles VE1, VE2, and comprises an optical device 2 including a light emitting part 21 and a light receiving part 22 of infrared. Infrared delivered from the light emitting part 21 of each of the vehicles VE1, VE2 is reflected by the other vehicles VE2, VE1, then enters the light receiving part 22, and a distance between the vehicles VE1 and VE2 is detected. When the second vehicle VE2 approaches within a distance (Dc+Dd) from the first vehicle VE1, the optical devices 2 of the vehicles VE1, VE2 communicate with each other. Based on a communication result, a synchronization driver 35 of a controller 3 connected to the optical device 2 provides synchronization between the vehicles VE1, VE2 so as not to temporally superimpose distance measurements and the distance measurement and communication, thereby allowing different transmission timing of infrared by dividing time.</p> |
