A lift control valve (1) having a main spool (17) and a compensator spool (21). When the main spool (17) is moved to a first offset position (17B) operating oil can be supplied to a lift cylinder mechanism (8), and when the main spool is moved to a second offset position (17C) the operating oil supplied to the lift cylinder mechanism (8) is discharged into a tank (13) via a tank passage (41). When the main spool (17) has moved to the second offset position (17C), the compensator spool (21) adjusts the degree of opening of the tank passage (41) and restricts the maximum flow volume of the operating oil discharged into the tank (13) to a prescribed flow volume, regardless of fluctuations in the pressure of the operating oil in the lift cylinder mechanism (8). The compensator spool (21) is inserted into the interior of the main spool (17).
