PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plate material separation device and a plate material separation method which can securely take out a stacked plate material one by one, and can accumulate many plate materials orderly.SOLUTION: A plate material separation device 30 includes an insertion member 32 which can be inserted into a through hole 1a formed on an uppermost metal plate 1 from above. The through hole 1a formed on the uppermost metal plate 1 is arranged in a position different from a through hole 1a formed on the second metal plate 1 from the top in a state that the metal plates 1 are stacked vertically.
