Stability enhancement agents for use in a solidification matrices and solid detergent compositions are described. Stability enhancement is provided by a hydratable salt, water and a carboxylic acid terpolymer forming a dimensionally stable solid compositions. Preferred carboxylic acid terpolymers include from about 40 to 90% by weight of a carboxylic acid monomer, anhydride or salt thereof, from about 4 to 40% by weight of a monomer comprising sulfo groups, and from about 4 to 40% by weight of a nonionic monomer set forth in formula (I). The stability enhancement composition for use in solid detergent compositions are preferably biodegradable and may be substantially free of phosphate and/or NTA-free and provide beneficial hard water scale control. |

1. A solid detergent composition comprising:
between about 0.1 wt-% and about 20 wt-% of a terpolymer (A), said terpolymer (A) comprising in copolymerized form from about 30 to 90% by weight of at least one monoethylenically unsaturated C3-C8-carboxylic acid, or an anhydride or salt thereof, from about 3 to 60% by weight of at least one monomer comprising a sulfo group, and from about 3 to 20% by weight of at least one nonionic monomer of the formula (I)
H2C═C(R1)(CH2)xO[R2—O]yR3 (I) in which R1 is hydrogen or methyl, R2 are identical or different, linear or branched C2-C6-alkylene wherein R2—O may be arranged in blocks or randomly, and R3 is hydrogen or a straight-chain or branched C1-C4-alkyl, x is 0, 1 or 2 and y is a number from 3 to 50;between about 0.1 wt-% and about 50 wt-% water;between about 40 wt-% and about 95 wt-% alkali metal carbonate; andbetween about 0.5 wt-% and about 10 wt-% surfactant. |
