The camera has a mixer to mix a photograph picture signal from an electronic display and a portion of a motion picture signal split by a beam splitter, where the signals are received via a screen (33). The mixed signal is viewed via an optical view finder (29) that is configured so that field of view provided by an object lens is wider than recorded field of view. The display temporarily supplements the photograph signal on the screen. Another portion of the split motion picture signal is transmitted to a recording sensor (27). An independent claim is also included for a method of viewing a mixed image signal including a motion picture signal and a photograph picture signal via an optical view finder of an electronic motion picture camera.
