Apparatus for distributing data, possibly radio or television channels delivered by satellite or cable, using a base modular unit 2 comprising an input port 22 for a data feed where the data is combined so as to be available from a plurality of output connection ports 8 on the base modular unit to the plurality of users. The base modular unit includes a plurality of input connection 12 ports for the selective connection to output ports of a further modular unit 2` with an additional data feed input port. A plurality of modular units may be connected in sequence to provide more input ports. The units may be connected together directly without needing cabling and may communicate using a Digital Satellite Equipment Control (DiSEqC) connection. Also claimed are a gateway termination unit and a method of providing data which use modular base units to which additional modular units may be added. The invention may be used to supply data to a block of apartments. |
