An adhesive for temporarily bonding together components of a piston oil-scraping ring of an I.C. engine (see Division F2) has the following (weight) composition: polyvinyl butyral resin 10-20%, thermosetting phenolic resin 5-10%, toluene 50-60% and alcohol 10-30%. The toluene and alcohol are first mixed and the resins are dissolved in the mixture by stirring. The adhesive is applied as a thin coating by brushing. |
