This rotary compressor is equipped with: a vertically oriented compressor housing which is tightly sealed and stores a lubricant therein, and is provided with a coolant discharge part in the upper section thereof and a coolant intake part in the lower section thereof; a compression unit for compressing coolant taken in by the intake part and discharging the same from the discharge part, and provided in the lower section of the compressor housing; a motor for driving the compression unit by using a rotating shaft, and positioned in the upper section of the compressor housing; and an accumulator connected to the coolant intake part, and attached to the lateral section of the compressor housing. Furthermore, the interior of the accumulator and/or the interior of the compressor housing have the following provided therein: silicon dioxide which has pores having a diameter no larger than that of a water molecule in the crystalline structure thereof, or a compound containing silicon dioxide which has pores having a diameter no larger than that of a water molecule in the crystalline structure thereof. |
