A possible way of determining the position of a rail vehicle on the basis of reflected (radar) signals received by the rail vehicle is specified. The rail vehicle preferably emits radar signals which are reflected at reflectors arranged along the route. On the basis of a location information item of the reflectors, which is stored, for example, in an electronic map, the position of the rail vehicle can be determined with a high level of accuracy on the basis of the received reflected signal. It is advantageous here that the measuring inaccuracy of odometry is at least partially compensated and the number of required beacons for absolute (punctiform) determination of position can be reduced. The invention can be used, for example, for underground urban mass transit railway systems, in particular in driverless systems. |
