METHOD FOR DETECTING ESTRONE BY MASS SPECTROMETRY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for determining the amount of estrone in a sample by a mass spectrometer.SOLUTION: A method of determining the amount of estrone in a human plasma or serum sample includes the steps of: (a) adding modified estrone to a human plasma or serum sample; (b) processing the body liquid sample by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC); (c) ionizing the processed estrone in the sample or the modified estrone by electrospray ionization (ESI) of positive ion mode, to generate one or more ions which can be detected by spectrometry; (d) detecting the amount of ions by tandem mass spectrometry; and (e) comparing the amount of one or more ions of estrone with the amount of one or more ions of modified estrone, to determine the amount of estrone in the sample.
