This storage device in which PCIe is applied to a back-end network connection solves the problem of having to reset all PCIe switches so that bus numbers can be allocated to and used by subsequently added PCIe switches as follows. The PCIe switches of the back-end network of the storage device are connected in series, and a range of consecutive bus numbers that are managed and saved in a bus number management table are allocated for the back-end network connection. When adding PCIe switches, bus numbers are allocated to links between the PCIe switches and to virtual PCI buses in the PCIe switches in ascending order from the minimum value among the bus numbers that can be allocated, and bus numbers are allocated to links between the PCIe switches and drives in descending order from the maximum value among the bus numbers that can be allocated.
