<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently exhibit the acceleration performance of a vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: When the discharge power Pb of a battery is smaller than an output limit Wout of the battery and a motor MG2 is driven at an operation point on the maximum torque line (S330, S340), a target rotation number Ne* is reset by reducing the target rotation number Ne* of the engine by a prescribed rotation number N1, and torque for obtaining the reset target rotation number Ne* on a power operation line is reset to target torque Te* (S350, S360). By this, torque (direct transmission torque) which is directly transmitted to a drive shaft from the engine can be increased, and can be adapted to required torque Tr* which is required to the drive shaft by the total torque of the direct transmission torque and the maximum torque of the motor MG2.
