The invention relates to a washing or washing/drying machine having a rotatable drum, which is arranged in the washing tub, for accommodating laundry which is to be treated, a washing liquor removal system which is arranged at the bottom of the washing tub, a discharge pump, a heating device for heating washing liquor, a pressure sensor for determining the pressure of a liquid which is located in the washing tub, and a control device which is programmed to carry out the method. The invention also relates to a method for treating foam in said washing or washing/drying machine comprising the following steps: (i) measuring and recording the pressure signal of the washing liquor in the tub; (ii) smoothing the pressure signal in order to obtain a smoothed pressure curve; (iii) determining a pressure gradient at a measurement interval of defined length from the pressure curve obtained; and (iv) treating a foam which is dependent on the pressure gradient of the washing liquor in the tub during emptying the tub, characterized in that the step (i) is carried out during operation of the discharge pump with the drum moving at the same time, wherein the foam is treated when among two following by each other pressure gradients next gradient is less than the previous one. |
