The present invention provides to an apparatus and a method for processing images, which can appropriately retouch a face but do not significantly affect areas excluding the face, and a recording medium. The imaging apparatus (100) comprises: an image obtaining unit (501) for obtaining a copy of an image; a face detecting unit (502) for detecting a face area from the duplicated image; an image generation controlling unit (505) for retouching the image to adjust the brightness and the color tone of the entire duplicated image so as to make a skin color component in the detected face area become a predetermined state; and an image combining unit (511) for combining the retouched image and the obtained image by differentiating the transmittance of the detected face area from that of other areas. |
