A pneumatic cleaning device on a flyer spinning or roving machine comprises a boxlike cover or enclosure housing the flyers, spindles and spindle rail, the cover extending lengthwise of the machine and being provided with a suction opening 33 or openings extending lengthwise of the cover and connected to a lengthwise extending collector duct 24, an air ingress opening or openings 34 being provided in at least cne wall of the cover other than that provided with the suction opening, the suction opening being located below the ingress opening such that air passing from the ingress to the suction opening passes through the flyer space. The suction opening is preferably provided in the rear wall 23 of the cover, and the ingress opening in the front wall 20 of the cover, which front wall 20 is displaceable relative to a fixed lower front wall 21. A hinged lid 29 is preferably provided over the drawing mechanism 11, which lid 29 is connected to an intermediate cover 26 having passages 28 for the roving 12. A further suction opening 36 may be provided directed to the drawing mechanism 11 and further air ingress openings 35 may be provided in the lid 29 to ensure air flow over the roving 12. The suction opening 36 may connect with the same collector duct 24 as the suction opening 33. Alternatively, separate ducts may be provided for the opennings 36 and 33 to enable differing negative pressures to be used. In a further embodiment, pressurised air is passed over the top of the spindle rail. Flow of air axially of the flyer arms may be assisted by shaping the radially extending portion of each arm as an impeller blade.</p> |
