Raw water is treated by passing from pipe 5 through fluidised bed of ion-exchanger 1 and treated water leaves by pipe 18. The backpressure of water forces used exchanger into chamber 13. This exchanger is transported to the regeneration vessel 2 by means of used regenerant and conveying liquid forced under pump 40. Excess regenerant is discharged at 41. A similar transfer of regenerated solid is conducted with treated water through pipe 18 and pump 31. An intermediate rinsing column 3 works on the same principles. The loading column may have a series of interface plates (Fig. 2 not shown).</p> |
